Miguel Carneiro is a Portuguese ultra-distance triathlete, a military man by profession, and represents GRDC MDN and Association BEAT YOUR LIMIT. He has been participating in national and international events and, since 2012, has become passionate about long distances.
In 2013 he did his first Ironman distance triathlon, in 2014 he embarked on the great challenge of representing Portugal and finishing an Ultraman distance race that took place in Wales. In 2016 he completed double the Ironman distance with a Double Ultra Triathlon continuously in Lithuania and in 2017 finished the Triple Ultra Triathlon continuously in Lensahn, Germany.
His last big challenge was the DECA Ultra Triathlon continuously in Leon, Mexico, in 2019. A triathlon with 38km swimming, 1800km cycling, and 422km running non-stop that he finished in 256h 47min 28sec, and now... more challenges are coming.
Having a training plan keeps you motivated and inspired. Knowing exactly what to do each day will help you get out the door when it’s raining or when you feel tired. You have committed to buying and following a training plan. You just need to focus and follow it to realize the true extent of your potential.
With a structured triathlon training plan, all you need to focus on is your training and recovery. You can leave the thinking and planning to someone else. That way you can spend more time training or with your family and friends.
As an athlete, you’re constantly bombarded by different opinions about training. One minute you read something in a magazine that says you should do more long runs, then someone at your local tri club suggests you ought to do more threshold workouts. These random tips come from all directions and it can be hard to know who to believe. A good coach-built training plan helps you stick to one consistent philosophy, rather than constantly chopping and changing all through the year. And consistency is what leads to great results.
